Uniform Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws (sometimes referred to as the “Model WHS Laws” or the “harmonised laws”) (WHS Laws) were developed by Safe Work Australia in conjunction with state, territory and Commonwealth ministers, and commenced on 1 January 2012 in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory and the Commonwealth. Tasmania and South Australia subsequently adopted the WHS Laws.
