This briefing paper covers reforms to the child protection system in South Australia. As part of their reforms, the previous Child Protection Act 1993 (SA) was repealed and a new legislative framework was introduced. From 22 October 2018, three Acts were introduced which created new child protection duties for schools in South Australia.
These duties include Working with Children Checks and expanded mandated notification and staff reporting obligations.
