VIC Risk Management and Child Protection - August 2016
1/08/16
The Victorian Child Safe Standards (Child Safe Standards or Standards) and Ministerial Order 870 include a requirement that all Victorian schools develop risk management strategies to ensure child safety in school environments. Victorian schools are required to have a much higher level of sophistication in their risk management practices than has previously been the case. This briefing paper provides practical answers questions surrounding these requirements as at August 2016, including:
Where can we get practical guidance as to how to implement a risk management program?
What do we need to do to establish a risk rating criteria?
What risk assessment methodology should we use?
What records do we need to keep?
How can we monitor the effectiveness of our risk controls?
