Lunch & Learn: Practical tips for responding to employee-related child protection concerns and allegations in schools

About the Webinar

Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students is always a top priority for schools. From time-to-time schools will encounter circumstances where it is alleged or observed that a school employee (including contractors or volunteers) presents a risk to children. These child protection concerns and allegations always require a response by the school leadership. Knowing how to manage the initial response is crucial for the protection of children and the wellbeing of all involved.

Join us for our lunch and learn webinar with our guest speaker, Michelle White, Director & Principal Consultant, an expert in supporting organisations to be child safe. Joined by our child safe specialist Karen Zeev, our speakers will cover crucial elements of how school leaders can apply a best practice initial response to employee-related child protection concerns and allegations within the school context to protect the safety and wellbeing of children. In this 45-minute session, we explore:

  • Case study example with practical guidance on best practice initial responses and the steps involved
  • The importance of reporting to Police, making statutory child protection reports and other reporting obligations
  • Key factors and domains in assessing and managing risk
  • The five trauma-informed principles
  • Q&A session

We encourage you to submit questions to our presenters ahead of the webinar. Please note any submitted questions will need to be general in nature.
